About Me
I am an Associate Professor of Sociology and faculty fellow in the California Center for Population Research at UCLA.
My research examines social inequality in the contemporary United States, with an emphasis on topics such as (a) the social and economic dynamics of gender inequality, (b) inequality in access and returns to higher education, and (c) debt and the economics of higher education. I am particularly interested in using large-scale experiments and surveys to assess the mechanisms behind how inequalities unfold in social life.
I am a former visiting scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation (2022-23 cohort) and a current William T. Grant Scholar (2024-29 cohort).
A native Hoosier, I received a Ph.D. in sociology, M.S. in applied statistics, and M.A. in sociology, all from Indiana University, and B.S. in social policy from Northwestern University.
